The Seniors Open was played for on Thursday 3rd June. There was a good turn out and the weather was excellent. As can be seen from the list of Prize Winners Bellshill members took most of the prizes.

The overall winner was Keith Elsby from Bellshill who shot an excellent net 62. Well done, Keith.

It seemed ideal weather at the start of the day so good scoring seemed to be on the cards. This did not prove to be the case with few Red scores on the scoreboard.

Early leader was K Murdoch with a scratch 75. This was overtaken by Bellshill's Martin Smith on 74 and this remained the leading score until late on in the day when last year's runner up, Mark Lutton, came in with a scratch 69, an excellent score. It was a profitable day for Mark who had a Magic 2 and also won the First Class Sweep.

The First Class prize was won by Bellshill's Ian Curwood with a net 68. Ian swithered over whether he would play or not but eventually went out in the last game, a good decision by Ian.

The Second Class winner was visitor N Ferguson from Greenburn Golf Club, also with a net 68.

Once again our thanks go to all involved in organising and running this competition. Congratulations to all our winners and we hope to see you all back next year.

It's 3-In-A Row for Fraser!

This year's Junior Open was played on Thursday 29th July. Dylan Burt of Bellshill won the Under 14 Age Group for the second year running with a net 65. A Bellshill player also won the 14 - 16 Age Group with club Championship Finalist Chris Kelso shooting a net 65. His opponent in the Final, Daniel Munn, wasn't going to be left out taking second place in the 16 - 18 Age Group, beaten by O Sheeran of Bothwell Castle who shot a net 65, so it was net 65's all the way.

The winner of the Ian Curwood Trophy was Fraser McNeil of Cathkin Braes. Fraser shot an excellent scratch 71 to win by two shots. The name may sound familiar, that's because Fraser appears to have made this trophy his own. This is the third year running that Fraser has lifted the trophy, winning by two shots over O Sheeran.

Congratulations to Fraser, it's a great achievement to win three in a row. Congratulations also go to all our prizewinners and thanks to everyone who played on the day. Our thanks also go to all who helped run this event. We hope to see most of you back next year.
